It has been nearly 20 years since I have been out looking for morel mushrooms.
I went out three times without luck, then went out with my brother to one of the places that he felt we could find a few. After some searching, I got my first few mushrooms of the year and picked a small dryad’s saddle to see if I like the taste of those as well. While we didn’t find the mother-load of mushrooms, it was an enjoyable day out in the woods with my brother.
Some people do not like the taste of dryad’s saddles, but both my wife and I enjoyed them fried on a small amount of avocado oil. I made the morels as my family has forever. After soaking the morels for a bit in salt water, coat the morels in flour and fry them in butter with a dash of pepper. Hopefully, I can find enough for a few more batches and dry for later in the year.
