I am fortunate to live close to Keystone State Park in Westmoreland County and can visit in the mornings before I start work or on my lunch break.
The multi-use trail around the lake is great for walking, running, or biking. The more secluded trails are great for wildlife viewing and hiking.
The main attraction at Keystone State Park is the lake. PA Fish and Boat stocks trout, channel catfish, and tiger musky in the lake. The trout are mostly rainbows, but you will catch the occasional brown trout and recently I caught a tiger trout while fishing from my kayak.
In the lake is a variety of panfish that include bluegills, crappie, and perch. In recent years Channel catfish have been stocked.
I have included a few links to Habitat Improvement plans, maps, and biologist reports. Once historical stocking reports are available again, I will add those. They were blocked due to COVID-19 on the Fish and Boat website.
